Latchi (Latsi)
As can be seen on the map, Latchi is situated in the North-West corner of Cyprus, nestling between the small picturesque town of Polis (Polis Chrysochous) and the beautiful Akamas peninsula National Park. This is a stunning region of Cyprus, steeped in history and offering wonderful country and coastal walks and cycling.
Region
The main town of the region is Paphos, some 35 kms away. Among its attractions are its ancient mosaic floors, its beautiful old harbour, and restaurants situated along the promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul’s Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love and beauty). The coastal route from Latchi to Paphos offers stunning panoramas of the coastline and the distant hills of the Troodos Mountains.
This part of the island possesses all the elements of a perfect holiday location, small sandy beaches that rank high on the list of some of Europe's best, lush natural surroundings, entertainment to suit all tastes and infinite sporting activities for all ages. Add to this a lovely subtropical climate, where the changes of season are miraculously distinct. Springtime signals colourful splashes of flowers, fruit and fauna. In the summer the wonderful beaches invite sunning and swimming in the clear Mediterranean waters. Autumn is the perfect time to experience the sheer, natural beauty of the Akamas Peninsula where the delicate balance of nature is kept intact. Winter is subtly cooler and within an hour of Latchi the Troodos Mountains offer the opportunity for excellent skiing.
Baths of Aphrodite
Close by, at the beginning of the Akamas national park (nature reserve) you will find the famous “Baths of Aphrodite”, where, according to legend, Aphrodites, the Goddess of love and beauty, bathed in the pool of a natural grotto under the shade of fig trees.
